1080i is one of the resolutions specified in HDTV standards. 1080i means 1080 interlaced scan lines. In 1080i format, there are 1920 pixels in each horizontal lines. 1080i and 720p is most commonly used in HDTV broadcasting, while 1080p is widely used in HD-DVD or Blue-Ray movie discs.
